Hi Mike, I like your perspective on this matter.

Look at LILO coverage this way.

LPIC-1: lilo _and_ grub have a weighting of 2
LPIC-2: lilo _and_ grub have a weighting of 4

That means that we get to ask 6 questions about grub and lilo by the time
they get their LPIC-2.

It also means that we can only ask 2 questions on both for LPIC-1.

I'll leave it to everyone else to guess how in depth LPIC-1 can get on
_either_ lilo or grub.

Your idea of dropping grub or lilo (I'm putting words in your mouth, maybe)
from LPIC-1 and keeping both in LPIC-2 has some merit. At least, it's worth
discussion.

It puts the 2nd bootloader into the more admin-centric level (LPIC-2) but
keeps one at LPIC-1.

Now, with that said. Everyone has 2 years to debate this because:

a) the objective content is set until the next review period which is in 2.5
years.

b) there is no b. I was hoping to come up with another point by the time I
got this far in my e-mail. no such luck.

c) there is the quarterly updates but those are for clarification and not the
addition/removal of content.

Regards,
