The Debian-native equivalent would be update-rc.d. chkconfig is not installed by default, at least not on Ubuntu, but the package is available. > Debian also has rpm as a package. That doesn't mean you should use rpm > on a debian system. RPM is actually a dependency of alien. I cannot think of any other use for it on a Debian system, except maybe to extract files from a .rpm.
