Subject: Some yet-unanswered questions...
1) I still can't get banner pages to print... I've tried almost everything.
I'm trying to print a banner page using lpbanner on the line printer. Can
anyone tell me the proper printcap options to have the thing actually come
out (I also want to use lpf at the same time... is this possible?)
2) checkpc -A # does not work for me and therefore I am unable to clean out
queues, other that by writing my own utility to clean jobs that have been in
the queue for a long time. Isn't checkpc -A 3 -f supposed to clean up jobs
older than 3 days? I have jobs that have been there for 2 weeks and this
does nothing.
3) For accounting, when a job is removed via lprm, the job exits with JABORT
and accounting isn't done. This is no good, as a user can exploit this or do
something stupid and not get charged for it (ie. print a 500 page document
with 20 blank pages at the end and cancel it somewhere in that end buffer).
Is there any way, short of re-writing the accounting script to at the next
end compare the two adjacent filestarts, to make this work a little bit
better? Has anyone else encountered this problem?
4) The status.<spoolname> file doesn't stick around long enough usually to
do much debugging -- how can one make this file larger?
5) Is the gdbm thing (for Patrick :)) gonna be fixed in 3.7.5, and is that
almost out? :D
