Hi, We have just changed over to using a new HP-UX box moving from a DG/UX box. The printing system is setup such that when a printjob is sent from our HP-UX box it is forward to a Linux box also running LRNG using the Printer:tc=.xxx:printer@remotehost construct and then off to the printer, which works nicely.
I look after quite a few remote printers. One such printer a Lexmark Optra R+ (busrpt0) which is connected via a Router in one of our remote locations which is causing problems! We have an identical printer (karrpt0) in a different location, identical router/printer setup and this printer hasn't got any issues. What is happening is that when print jobs are sent from our DG/UX (lpsched spooling system) the printer prints fine in english characters, but when printing from the new HP-UX box the printout is positioned correctly on the page, but the alpha character are not english, they are symbols, but the numbers on the page come out correctly. The strange thing is that when sending a print job from the new box immediately after sending one from the DG/UX box, then the printout is fine? Attached is printcap from Linux Box... Any idea? Has anybody seen this phenomenon before?
