I admit I haven't tried Fernando's patch.

Did you use SNMP for status and pagecount?  My preliminary testing shows SNMP to be 
pretty good about getting status and pagecount correct.  Using SNMP for status only 
and PJL for page counts doesn't work so well for some reason.
