Discord, Slack, and Matrix are all Electron apps (i.e., they are web pages
that ship with complete copies of Chrome). While the proximate reason
people are currently leaving Chrome (new limitations that make ad-blocking
less effective) isn't terribly relevant to electron apps, long-term
attempts to encourage browser diversity are not aided by the myth (widely
believed) that the only reliable way to do cross-platform GUI applications
is to ship a complete copy of Chrome with a webpage. (Flutter is no better
than Electron here: it is also a matter of shipping a complete copy of
Chrome with a web page.)
