For webinars with shared slides, I found Adobe Connect to be more bandwidth conserving. It's been a while since I tested it, though. In 2013, I managed to give lectures over a 2G connection, a two-hour lecture with slides and audio, no video, resulted in 50 MB of communication [up and down in total as reported by my USB dongle].
The downside of Adobe Connect is that it's proprietary and requires
hosting.
