Matt,

Yes, you should be fine.  The 2.09pre releases are installed into /opt/ltsp,
whereas the older releases are in /tftpboot/lts.

So, they can both exist at the same time.

The files you will have to be careful of are the /etc/exports file and the
/etc/dhcpd.conf files.

In the /etc/exports file, you will want to export both the 
/tftpboot/lts/ltsroot
and the /opt/ltsp/i386 directories.

In dhcpd.conf, you can control which workstations get which kernels and 
which
root directories.
