Hello everyone! My name is Hans Ekbrand and I am new to this list.
Currently I use ltsp in a home network with only one X-terminal. I have noticed that when running X-terminals with only 8 Mb RAM and 1 Mb RAM on the graphic card and X running at 16 bbp, the X-session often terminates abruptely when the user opens a few applications. This sort of instability never occured when I had X-terminals running at 8 bbp, so I gather that the problem is that the X-terminal runs out of memory. The only message in the logs are syslog: "kdm[15577]: session start failed". I have noticed that prior the termination of the X-session, rpc.nfsd tend to consume a lot of CPU, though I have no idea of why. Now, I have tried to set up for swapping over NFS, but I can't get my own customized kernels to boot. They stop at "Uncompressing vmlinuz.... Now, booting Linux." I used 2.4.13 with the swap over NFS patch by as documented on http://pcxperience.org/thinclient/documentation/nfsswapping.html, but the kernels just don't boot. Hints anyone? Anyone got a working nfs-swapping kernel, or could compile one for me? (NE2000 ISA) kind regards Hans Ekbrand _____________________________________________________________________ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
