Hans, What version of LTSP are you using ?
Version 3.0.0 has NFS swap built-in. also, there is a package called ltsp_initrd_kit that you can download that will help you get a kernel going. And, there is a section in the new LTSP 3.0.0 documentation explaining how to build kernels.
