This applies only to pre 3.0 versions of LTSP, since they used the
libraries from the server for the workstations. Since 3.0 LTSP comes with
its own libraries.

Only if you have an old LTSP version.

Possibly yes, but in order to get further we need more details about your
workstation: What hardware has it, what version of LTSP are you using,
whcih kernelimage etc.
