Seriously guys, the world is full of Linux distros that have started off
full of good ideas and have fallen flat on their horses. Why? not enough
people are interested / trust you to be around / worry that they won't
be able to use other apps because you haven't supplied all the necessary
libraries, etc.

Why not get on the back of one good distro - say Red Hat - and then
create a post-install CD that adds in your bells and whistles, sets your
default desktop, etc. etc. That way you save a lot of work that's
already been done, and you overcome the fear factor that'll stop people
entrusting their systems to some flaky distro provider (you) who might
vanish tomorrow.

Here's a wheel - no point re-inventing it - use it to make a bike
instead.
