Xserver problem:

At one of the schools where I am installing LTSP I have problems with the Xserver to work properly.

The Client boots, start the Xserver and comes up with the Logon screen. Its possible to se, but there are some strange lines from top to button on one side and all the letters is like “double”.
If I choose “640x440” it works well, but if I change to “800x600” the problems starts.

In the lts.conf file I have defined the Xserver=XF86_S3 and I have tried some X_MODE_0 settings without knowing so much about it. I guess the problem is the refresh rate and that means I have to get the X_MODE_0= right.

The computers is Pendium75 IBM 330-75 with  S3trio64+ chipset S3trio64 chipset. Most of the Monitors are called “Digital and are not very old. We are using RH7.2 and KDE2 as window manager.

Can anyone tell what the problem might be and if it is the X_MODE_0= settings, any suggestions what to write here for the S3trio64 chipset.

Thanks

Morten
