Peter, 

If you are getting an error about 'No root-path' then you are 
definately NOT having a NFS or mountd problem.  The workstation
hasn't gotten far enought to have that problem yet.

It is more likely that the /etc/dhcpd.conf file is missing
the 'option root-path' statement, or the workstation isn't
getting any DHCP reply during the /linuxrc phase of booting.

You say that your dhcpd.conf file is identical to the sample.
How about you send me a copy of your /etc/dhcpd.conf file, so
i can have a peek.

Also, what kind of network card are you using ?  Is it by chance
a 3com 3c509, and you haven't turned off Plug-n-play on the card ?
(just a wild guess).

Anyway, send me that info, and maybe I can help you get it
going.
