Well, I'm not sure what you're getting at. But X always 'published' single
apps over the network, it was made to do that. You used to do that with
'xhost' and 'export', nowadays you do it with 'ssh -X'. X can also export
desktops, which is what LTSP uses. Starting from the desktop on the LTSP
client, you can 'slogin -X' to any other machine and start graphical
applications. What I have read is that LBX isn't much use over LANs, but over
a dialup connection it might make a difference.. I haven't tried it. In that
case, I think it works by running proxy servers at both ends, and actually
exporting single apps, not desktops. Which reminds me, you can also emulate
the session feature of Citrix whereby you can simply unplug a client and plug
it in later and resume where you left off. But you can do it with apps only,
by using a proxy server similar to the LBX, called xmove. Pretty slick.
