Just use cups or lprng as the print server on SuSE.

Cups handles socket printing without problems, ie:
        in /etc/cups/printers.conf

                <Printer foo>
                        DeviceURI socket://ltspclient_name:9100
                        Location At Foo's desk
                        State Idle
                        Acepting Yes
                 </Printer foo>
This can be done with yast2 or with kups

with lprng the print spool in /etc/printcap is:
     :lp=ltspclient_name%9100:

     The best way to do this is to pretend in apsfilter-setup or
     yast2 that it is a local printer and then edited the lp
     variable by hand in /etc/printcap

Hope this helps.
