Following steps only coming off my head
To acertain the ROM type of your card, you have to verify its PCI code
as ROOT (as an example)
# lspci
.....
......
00:13.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C (rev 10)
00:14.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C (rev 10)
.....
.....
From www.rom-o-matic.net choose "Product Releases 5.0.9", a stable one
Under 1.Choose NIC/ROM type On the dropdown list, select "rtl8139- ........."
Under 2.Choose ROM output format On the dropdown list, select "Floppy Bootable ROM Image ...."
Under 4. Click "Get ROM" and save it to a Floppy
Use the Floppy to start your workstation. If it works, then
Under 2.Choose ROM output format On the dropdown list, select again "Binary ROM Image ..." to get it for burning your ROM
