I think it is - but didn't try. It's not LTSP specific - if you get
the kdm (or xdm or gdm) to use ldap auth (and I expect that's
possible) it will work on ltsp-enabled systems as well.

Yes. No need for a hosts file on the server.

As (without local_apps at least) all software runs on the server and
only uses the client's display (simply spoken) you have to tell the
server about the printers. Network aware printers - if supported by
linux - will be fine. Parallel printers on the clients could work too
