You will want to use either xf4vnc (xf4vnc.sf.net) or vnc-X-session or vncquick (www.pcxperience.org).

Only if you do not use VNC as your actual X session or run everything in your VNC session and not run anything on your local X session.

This is the case with the defaults with certain versions of vncveiwer/server. If you are using TightVNC, there are options to re-enable the display and tracking of the mouse cursor.
