I am trying to get a project to deploy it to an institution that houses people
who aren't ready for the real world - ( not a University) so that they can do
online work with a browser. The security aspects of disklessness, combined
with the other advantages make it a natural fit.

I've got LTSP version 4 working on Redhat 9. It works great using gdm or
vanilla xdm. No problem running problems on the server from the terminal. I
want to run local apps (I only need to run a browser and a 3270 emulator) and
I've got LTSP configured correctly, with the NIS and mounting home, and ssh
configured right. Basic apps work fine (such as your example uptime) I got
through the library problem all you talk about in
http://www.ltsp.org/ltsp-4.html#localapps covered. - I'm using firefox,
the lightweight Mozilla and when it comes up (ssh ws001 env DISPLAY=ws1:0.0
/usr/local/firefox) I get the Firefox Profile Manager and it gives me the
option to select a profile. I select a profile, and get "Component returned
failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)
[nslProfileInternal.currentProfile]

I've tried straight xdm, gdm, no hint. Any ideas how to deal with this error?

Thanks
