It's not normal, but I have seen it happen on some workstations.

I've not had a chance to dig in and see why.

I'm working on a 2.4.26 kernel for LTSP-4.1, and i've not seen this 
behaviour.  The new kernel package should work with ltsp-3 and 4.0,
so i'm not inclined to go back and worry about the older kernel.
