For PCI NICs you won't need the NIC parameter in most cases. However, if it's 
a quite recent PCI code it possibly has not made it into the LTSP initrd's 
niclist file. In this case you could specify NIC= .... to workaround.
Please quote the PCI ID for someone to add it to NICLIST, once you get it 
working.

Which etherboot driver did you select? It often allows to conclude which Linux 
driver you need... (if it was 8139, there's a chance you need "rtl8139" or 
"8139too", for example)
