The key point is that not all linux systems have the 'service' command (which I thought was from RedHat since that was the first place I ever experiened/worked with it, and also since my friend's Debian servers do not have a service command on them) So allow me to ammend my statement to be: "Hi Joe... That will work, but not on all Linux distributions" Is that better?
