Hi - I'm a newbie to using ltsp.

I run SuSE 10.0 OSS on a Celeron-600 with 384MB RAM.

Recently I installed ltsp and have managed to get two workstations (both P1-120MHz) up and running, but not very well.

One of them [assigned ws002 by DHCP] has Windows 98 installed on the Hard Disk, and an older, serial ball mouse on one of the COM ports /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1. The mouse is detected fine by windows, but not by XDMCP, so I can't use a mouse for the thin terminal; I haven't even thought seriously about trying to redirect sound yet!

In my /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/ltsp.conf file, this particular workstation includes a [ws002] section, with mouse sections setting the protocol to Microsoft, the number of buttons to 2, and emulating 3 buttons. The mouse device I have tried as both /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1. I have played with the mode0 and mode1 lines to try to determine if the .conf file is being read correctly, and it doesn't seem to be: I can comment out the mode line for 800x600 resolution, enabling only the 640x480 resolution, and I still get X in 800x600.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a foolproof or idiot-proof way of establishing that the ltsp.conf file is being read and used correctly?
