Wow, that would be excellent!  Is there much effort involved?

I'm more than happy to help with testing, but I'm afraid I'm not much of a coder.

I don't really have any reason to run things off the hard drives.  I'd be quite happy to just boot from the CD.

What PCMCIA cards have you tested with?  Does it work with WEP or WPA?

actually, not clearly. I put together a wireless boot CD for LTSP 4.1, and I 
see no reason I couldn't do it for LTSP 4.2. It loaded the kernel and initrd 
from the CD, skipping the first DHCP and tftp steps. If you're interested, 
let me know and I'll see what I can put together. If you wanted to put forth 
the effort from there, it should in theory be possible too boot from the hard 
drive(using lilo or some such)  and not have to worry about CDs
