On a small network, with a few clients, I think it's very practical to use
the server as one of the workstations.

But, I prefer to leave the server alone, and NOT run X on it.  The reason
for that is, when X is running, you will never see any kernel messages,
indicating any problems.  Although over the years, it seems like there
just aren't that many problems.  I think my preference is really dated
back from the days when I used SCO Unix, and problems seemed to crop up
much more often.

So, I'd say there really aren't any technical reasons.  Do what you feel
comfortable doing.  If that means using your main workstation as the LTSP
server, then do it, and don't worry about it.
