My (limited!) understanding of it is that it's the difference between:

mount /dev/sda1 /mnt  # ie mount the first partition
mount /dev/sda /mnt   # mount the entire(?) drive?

I *think* the ltsp update added support for the second mount type.

I could, of course, be completely wrong....
