I think Nadav is talking about multiseat, not just xinerama. multiseat uses
evdev whereas xinerama works with default xorg drivers, if I understand it
right.
And using the default xorg7.1+ versions results in gdmgreeter crash errors
(but resolved with the patched evdev.so) in case of multihead. You can see

I had two or three computers with 2 video cards (for Xinerama),
AGP&PCI or PCI&PCI, and never had a problem about video cards' Bios.
Do you have a more verbose error message ? What does happen ?
