Yes, LTSP-5 is so tightly integrated with a distro that it's a huge task 
to build it for another, such as Arch.  That's why LTSP-5 isn't included 
in more distros.

You'll need to hook into the boot process, starting with the initramfs 
and then all through the startup scripts (init or upstart).

Fortunately, there's some very smart and helpful people on the #ltsp IRC 
channel on irc.freenode.net that have been through this process.  I'm 
certain you can get some help there, and they can show you where to get 
the source code from.  It's on Launchpad, btw.
