One reason why scrolling might be very choppy is when the clients have 
very little RAM and they need to use swap all the time.

about some services that you can disable (from lts.conf) to free as much 
RAM as you can.

256 MB RAM is good enough for thin clients out of the box,
128 MB RAM might need some more fine-tuning.
