I think the test is correct -- we're trying to be quite deliberate in
building from stock distributions as much as possible, so the default lib
name check should be ok.

Oisin's right -- I haven't checked, but that different Win tool chains
behave in magical ways doesn't surprise me in the least. Outside of add'l
configurability (or keeping a local patch, like we've done internally up
until this rc2), I'm not sure if there's a better solution.

Hisham -- thank you for working on pushing the Windows side out a bit --
it's making a big difference for us.
