NFS is a PITA to manage. With frequent hangs, you might want to manually mount it after startup. If it is read-only data, you might consider mounting the filesystem soft so NFS issues will not lock your system. Very succinctly, /etc. :) After your system loads the kernel and starts init, it starts up the runlevel that is specified in /etc/inittab. Say your default runlevel is 3. The scripts under /etc/rc.d/rc3.d are run in alphanumerical order. -Vince
