I was talking about my machine not a server.
For a server I can believe a long uptime for NT (maybe a month .... but not three years). It was the best OS M$ ever built. Its been downhill since.
For NT he would need to reboot for updates of the OS and for some updates of antivirus (e.g. change of scan engine). And we all know the unexplained slow down of the server that fixes itself after that reboot!. So three years is being extravagantly liberal with the truth.

On your own desktop/laptop it is impossible to keep from not rebooting under windows. Just getting rid of malware/spyware using tools like spybot needs reboots for the bad cases. You need to upgrade IE, you need to reboot, you upgrade your apps ... reboot. Its just so relaxing to come to office and resume from where you left off the day before (even over a weekend) for weeks on end.
