Hi
I would like to think there are enough competent adminstrators in
Uganda. You can setup your own news server using INN. It comes as a
port in FreeBSD or you can grab the source for BSD and Linux from the
isc.org site. If you use Windows, Exchange has an NNTP server which
you can install from the CD.
You will have to talk to your ISP since your bandwidth limitations may
come into play when many people want to pull news feeds from your
server or your ISP can host the server for you.

Guys, is there a problem with providing newsgroup
services in the country? whenever I'm trying to gather
info online, I'm refered to the newsgroups and can't
access them. When I say we don't have this they say my
ISPs(ugandans) are lame and out of touch,do we lack
the tech. for this? if not how can i get some of the
feeds from these networks? or better who do i have to
talk to to get this service up at say spacenet (my
favourite webcafe uses this) or mtn (my home isp).
May be trhen we can get 'full internet access' not
just click!click! webpages and email, theres mo out
there.
mtn,infocom,spacenet,utl,dehezi,africaonline and
colleagues care to respond?
