This is not entirely true. Fibre or VSAT, it doesnt matter. The internet
today is no different from the Wild Wide West in the USA 300 years ago.
The resources required to censor an entire nation are quite massive (ask
China) and in many cases it requires cooperation of key service providers
like Google, Yahoo, MSN etc. I was amused by the stunt the Al Qaeda guys
use to multiply the presence of their information online to the extent
that the Americans just cant cope despite their advanced technology. So,
how about Uganda which still believes in Tanks, Jeeps and APCs as the only
form of security? The net is a whole new ball game and it will take
decades be4 our Govt can get on top of things.
