MTN is using Huawei terminals for the CDMA service and according to Huawei, support for these on Linux would require them (us) paying a hefty sum to Qualcom which owns the patents to the CDMA technology. The Huawei terminal uses a USB cable with an embedded Qualcom chip and the price that would be charged by Qualcom per terminal for the drivers is very exorbitant considering the use of the CDMA on Linux using Huawei terminals wouldnt be wide spread.

MTN did make such a request to Huawei actually but its still a pending issue. Some other vendors do actually have data cables that use the normal DB9 interface, you could try them with Linux but i dont think MTN sells terminals from any other vendor currently ( same for UTL)

Has anyone configured MTN's CDMA on a linux box or Mac OS X. Apparently MTN is still targetting PCs. After several inquiries, MTN is still assessing the viability of supporting Linux and Mac OS X users with the yelloaccess product. All advice is welcome.
