You do have a point there, the fonts on OS X look really sleek and seem to be well integrated throughout the system, though I don't think you were comparing your experience on Linux to your experience on OS X[1] As per Linux fonts, the fonts on the SuSE 9.3 I'm typing this on (err talk to Kiggs) are more than readable, they're really fine. Also SuSE comes with an RPM which will install the MS fonts for you. Haven't used Debian/Slax that much so I wouldn't know how SuSE and Debian compare fontwise.[2] Having said that, comparing OS X to OS 9 I think Apple has made steps forward, not back. Many UNIX diehards are actually using them since Apple put bits of the FreeBSD kernel (5.x at the time) into it. Net result: more people will move from Linux/UNIX to Macs than the other way round[3]. Of course that's just IMHO. -- patrick [1]from the headers of your email you are using Microsoft Outlook under windows. [2] though I'd guess there's a deb package you can apt-get to install the MS fonts [3] case in point: go through your LUG folder and check how many posts are made from mail2.app MUAs. _______________________________________________ LUG mailing list [email protected] http://kym.net/mailman/listinfo/lug %LUG is generously hosted by INFOCOM http://www.infocom.co.ug/ The above comments and data are owned by whoever posted them (including attachments if any).
