Henry, Broadband for local content - probably yes. But broadband access to the "International Internet" - not necessarily.

Local content, hosted locally and marketed locally will enable us enjoy a whole different experience as a nation. I'm happy that I haven't (yet) experienced bandwidth throttling when accessing local content through the IXP. Usually, one can enjoy speeds up to the maximum line speed. (This is one of the rare occasions when a wireless connection is sweeter than a leased line). This has enabled us to unknowingly enjoy a whole different experience for local mail, websites and VPNs. Local content is the way forward or else, the fibre will just be another one of those things that Ugandans can only talk about....
