UB40, U2, Rolling Stones, Jackson fives.... yay! Reinier, you must be from the stone age. ;-)

The type of crowds to attend live music shows in Kampala will most likely want the latest hip-hop artistes.

So, MTN is bringing UB40. Man, I have childhood memories of that band. Kuddos to MTN.

Got me wondering what we could expect from the other players in the market. Here is my list, please bare in mind I am white as a snowflock, and and old fart at the same time:

Celtel should be next. They go for old, but they do go black. I would say, Either Diana Ross or Stevie Wonder. Good old Motown.

Then UTL, who, I must admit, have a very very good marketing agency, I just love their U campaign and the color they picked. However, they tend to be off a bit somehow, so they will opt for a not-quite-the-hippest R&B artist. I am not a specialist here, but LL Cool J might just sound right.

Now, we have the new contenders. Warid hits first, and they do have money to spend. Guess who is touring the globe this summer? The Jackson Five, including Michael. Warid will make an entry with them, alright.

So, any chance for HITS to make an impression? Very very difficult. I'd say, there is only one chance they have. Very unknown, thus completely undervalued. But there is only 1 band in the world that goes by the name of 'Greatest Rock and Roll band in the World', and that's the Rolling Stones. (will cost them at least a million dollars) HITS, I will immediately buy at least 1 simcard if you make this happen.

Missed U2 (bono talks about africa, but did he ever play a tune here?), Madonna (Say a prayer should work), Prince maybe, and a whole range of funk, Soul and R&B stars. But there was only room for 3 here.

Who would be your international dream artist(s) to play the Cricket oval? Please, share your ideas, you might enlighten some marketing people on this list.

Just wondering,
