Are you an African expert in the creation of training material and
the teaching of business models?
Then respond to this call by *November 25* to become part of an
exciting programme to build African FOSS businesses.
The [EMAIL PROTECTED] programme, a partnership between FOSSFA, OSISA
and InWEnt, is engaging with African experts in curriculum and
course development to participate in the creation of training
materials on Free and Open Source Business Models.
You have the opportunity to:

and Learning Opportunities with Free and Open Source
Software in the area of Business Models
- Become part of an exciting community of African experts
on FOSS business models with the opportunities to help
build successful FOSS companies and network with other
experts in Southern and Eastern Africa and around the
world

honorarium for your contribution in the creation of
training material

share your knowledge with other FOSS businesspeople.
The [EMAIL PROTECTED] programme is a partnership between FOSSFA,
OSISA and InWEnt - Capacity Building International of Germany with
three main actions:
- spreading FOSS business models for enterprises in
Africa,
- fostering FOSS certification and
- support innovative local FOSS applications for social
and economic development.

YOUR PROFILE:
You have:
- a background in FOSS-based business
- a background in research and teaching of business models
/ business development (a focus on business development
of SMEs is an asset)
- demonstrated experience in development of learning
materials
- knowledge of relevant national and regional contexts of
Eastern and Southern Africa
- Experience in conducting FOSS trainings will be
considered an asset.
YOUR TASKS
The co-editors will form the core of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] content
creation community. On the basis of their experience, they will
contribute to producing high-quality training materials on the
subject of FOSS business models for African contexts. The effort
will be started with a workshop taking place around January 2009.
During this three-day workshop, you will develop the basis of a
FOSS business models curriculum together with experts from
UNU-MERIT and AITI-KACE. You will use your experience to ensure
that the training materials will take a hands-on approach based on
practical, real-case scenarios.
After the workshop, you will play an active role in the ongoing
open and collaborative process to refine the training materials.
This process will take place online. While the training materials
will continue to evolve, you will make most of your contributions
until March 2009.
The topics of the training materials to be developed are:
- FOSS business models in the context of Eastern and
Southern Africa- Communicating FOSS
- FOSS specific business knowledge and skills
- general business skills
- FOSS training as a business

BACKGROUND - THE [EMAIL PROTECTED] PROGRAMME
The objective of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] programme is to foster small
and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the field of ICT in Southern and
Eastern Africa capable of providing adapted applications and
services to the public and private sector. The focus is on
Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) as a key technology to drive
innovation, add local value and foster development-oriented and
affordable ICT applications. The improvement of regional
networking and strengthening of consulting capacities of ICT
associations and training institutions as well as of other
relevant change agents will be key vehicle of the programme.
As a part of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] programme, a consortium of
UNU-MERIT and AITI-KACE has been contracted to organise the
collaborative development of hands-on training materials on FOSS
business models for African contexts. This consortium is now
organizing the call for experts in curriculum and course
development to participate in the creation of training materials.
