WACS will provide reasonable connectivity between South Africa and the African west coast, as well as Europe. Another system would be desirable, although it may not be very popular for East African customers. Dropping down to South Africa just to shoot up again to Europe is "too far". The killer deal will be a cable running across the centre of the continent meeting WACS and friends at the coastline of Gabon or equivalent. But, as always, something is better than nothing.
