1. Scientific linux? Is this a distribution I haven't yet come across? The distribution of linux you're using does matter when asking questions for example Fedora, SuSE, slackware, debian, ubuntu etc.. 2. When you say downloaded the latest dhcpd file; I am assuming you downloaded either a tar.gz or rpm file for dhcpd and you want to install it?
