This initiative culminated in the CGIAR’s > decision in December 2008 to adopt a new business model that forms a > Consortium of International Agricultural Centres, guided by a new vision and > strategic results framework, executed through system research programmes and > consortium platforms. This change enables the CGIAR to increase and sustain > long term support for agricultural research, to improve donor coordination > and funding, to improve efficiency and impact, and to fulfil its mandate to > fight poverty and hunger while conserving the environment. > > The core of the new system is a partnership between a Consortium that unites > 15 international agricultural research Centres with 8,000 staff based in over > 50 countries and a new Fund, built on a common vision of mobilizing > agricultural research to reduce poverty and hunger, improve human health and > nutrition, and enhance sustainable management of natural resources in the > developing world. The > brand strategy will ensure use of brand by stakeholders and ensure compliance > with trademark, licensing and copyright agreements. > Develop, finalise and provide communications tools and materials for the > CGIAR Board and Consortium Office (e.g., coordination and preparation of key > speeches and presentations, providing timely and relevant talking points and > messaging). At the request of the CEO, speak publicly on behalf of the > Consortium. > Establish and coordinate a pro-active, system-wide issues management > strategy, and work with system and centre communicators to ensure > implementation and adherence. > Manage and guide the CGIAR Consortiums relationships with all media outlets, > including preparing news releases, briefings and/or press conferences. > Lead the development and implementation of CGIAR resource mobilisation > strategy and framework, working and providing guidance to System > communicators including the Consortium Board, CEO, and Fund Office. Develop > strategic outreach plans to new and existing donors, partners and > stakeholders in public, private, academic, and non-profit sectors. > Lead, coordinate and provide guidance to CGIAR Consortium websites and blogs, > working with Centre communications directors and web managers to ensuring > effective monitoring of consistent messaging, content, relevance and > accuracy, and maximising use and web presence, including through social > media. > Work with ICT and Knowledge Management and related platforms in the CGIAR as > required to ensure communications strategy and knowledge management in the > CGIAR are aligned and effective. > Manage and monitor all budgetary and administrative aspects of the > Consortium’s communications, working with Finance and Centre communicators > and managing communications supplier relationships and contracting. > > Required Knowledge, Experience and Skills > Excellent written and oral communications skills in English are absolutely > essential, including public speaking. > 10+ years’ work experience in the fields of communications and/or marketing > at a global level.
