The N computing model (Thin client technology) is one of the technologies
that promised a lot but delivered little
with prices for flat screen monitors still high, i dont see how cost
effective it can be.

of course you can get cheap flat screens from China, with a 15 day warranty
(or less, or none), and enjoy the consequences

however for large institutions like banks, universities, (100+) units,
it can make economical sense, a typical cafe with less than 50 units, i dont
for see any cost savings involved,
and i ll not mention the risk of having a central failure point
