Simon, Based on the new M$FT, I think that it may actually be a win for Linux.
One of the primary things overlooked by anti-M$FT, is the large developer and channel contribution ecosystem around Windoze and M$ Office. This business is actually larger than M$FT. Linux has to up its game, to match M$FT, they have failed to do so for the consumer. In the mean time M$FT is going big on the server end and may start eating *NIX lunch there too, checkout the # of M$FT systems in the worlds's top 500 supercomputers.
