Remastersys is an application which clones operating systems. It converts
your operating system to an ISO file which you can burn to a DVD. Your
friends can then use that DVD to easily install your customized version of
Ubuntu on their computers.

If you're trying to create a way for your novice friends to install "tar.gz"
files, don't bother; they're not inherently installable files. Think of
"tar.gz" files like "zip" files; they're archives which could potentially
contain anything (e.g. images, music, documents). If your novice friends
need a simple way to install applications, point them toward the Ubuntu
Software Center :)
