There is some explanation here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/02/21/ubuntu_for_android/ works off the Android kernel. Indeed all begin as a proof-of-concept. In this case I do believe this one comes with the added advantage of turning your phone into a hot plate. Handy for those mornings when one needs a boiled egg :-)
