Hello Godfrey! It depends. If all deviced involved are running Linux/BSD/OSX OpenVPN is a good alternative. If you need compatibility with Windows and most smartphones, however, you will need a solution which supports PPTP or L2TP/IPSec. If the former, see < https://www.vpnreactor.com/linux_openvpn.html>.
