@HOW TO GO ABOUT IT
The principles will not deviate that much, so I suppose you already have your
LANs organized for example HQs, Branch offices, Sub Branch offices, etc
NOW THESE ISSUES WILL ARISE AFTER THE ABOVE:
High availability clusters?
How to handle load balancing?
Horizontal scalability?
Vertical scalability?
How to Internet connectivity on the VPN?
My LANs already feature a DMZ, so what more or less do i need?
.....
THEN THESE ONES WILL ARISE:
Purely dedicated leased lines?
Switched leased lines? (probably frame relay over copper/t-lines or atm over
sonet)
VPN over the public internet by using firewall solutions? (ipsec firewalls, ssl
firewalls, proxy firewalls, circuit level, application firewalls, so many
firewall solutions )
......
THEN THIS OTHER ISSUE WILL ARISE:
How about harnessing the power of the cloud for my needs?
FINALLY you get to choose the optimal solution to configure, get equipment
costs, labor costs, implement the solution, and boot up your VPN.
