I would recommend the painted monasteries of the North-East (Bukovina), in
particular the Voronet Monastery that has a 4-course lute in one fresco
(reproduced in my torban pages).
Make a point to see the paintings of Corneliu Baba in museums there, and
also George Petrascu's.
